OCS - The School of Hard Knocks..

2 weeks into OCS and I am feeling the pinch of training to be an officer. Training for it is no easy stint. 2 weeks in and I can sense the high expectations laid out by the commanders in OCS. I wouldn't know how to put it, but I think dogs are sometimes better cared for than Officer Cadets there. I wish there would be a better way to put things across but it just seems that way. Nonetheless, there are many experiences that I gathered, I doubt I will forget.

It seems that the world has changed so much from the days that my parents were living in only a mere 20 years ago. The world of the internet has brought to its people the freedom of expression and showmanship to the world in record speeds. With that there comes the threat of confidential information spilling to the outside world, letting terrrorist obtain vital information of a country's security.

The information above must have been but one of the many things I learnt in OCS, realising the importance of responsibility on freedom of expression on the internet. Being in OCS i must say has slowly begun to evolve my perspectives of life and my surroundings. It's a crazy world out there I suppose, but never did I realise the consequences could be so real in Singapore's context.

Moreover, time away from home really made me realise how important family is to me. I was extremely happy to see them for the famliy visit earlier in the day. It seems it is only now that I do not take my family for granted. I really do love my parents. It just makes me cry thinking of them in my bunk at times.

36 more weeks of training and I will be done. I already see myself with the black bar on my shoulder, in the commissioning parade. I believe it and I see it. Its all a matter of the mind. I know it! Press on Saffy, press on!

An Neong Ha Sey Oh SAFTI MI!

I just got my posting on Friday and guess wad? I am going to OCS! Sigh.. More army shit to come my way and more stuff that I dun understand that I have to do. How I wish I was just a simple civilian. I know that it may be an honour to pass out as an officer in OCS, but to sacrifice so much of that time and effort put in away from home and my loved ones, it is hard to even think of sometimes. Army life has kinda showed me the route to independence. A chance for me to live out life on my own, in its own kind of way. I guess I will just have to go with the flow for now. Time will tell whether my effort will bear its fruit. Things seem much livelier i guess, and its getting more exciting. I can feel the vibes. I dunno how to explain it, but its a cool feeling to have. I'll let time tell, I'll just let time tell.. Press on Saffy, press on..

Tekong cough..

Is it just my body or me over reacting cause i kinda miss my days in BMT. Till it came to a point I got sick. I got a cough and flu only 2 days after leaving Tekong. I don't know what this means but the feeling of being sick just sucks. Alrite! Let me be up and ready before my platoon meet up this wed for soccer. Press on Saffy, Press on..

A friend's dilemma in NS..

Ever since I passed out from BMT, I'd feel a sense of satisfaction to life live to the best I can. Time has never ever been as precious as what I am experiencing now. Especially so ever since a friend of mine has been facing problems facing the reality of befriending a girl in the midst of NS. It must be a challenge for him to tell me how much little time he has to balance to take the chance to take her out for a simple dinner or even to send her home. It takes so much out of him to make a simple phone call to her for he is afraid to anger the traditional parents who curfews the daughter to calls till 11 when he knows he only has time after 10. It's madness he tells me, when he is crazy in love with her but thr is little but a sign that she likes him. Time is ticking away. He feels exasperated at the general statements many make that ALL NS GUYS ARE DESPERATELY DESPERATE FOR FEMALE ATTENTION! I don't understand this point at all, cause i never believed it to be true. I must agree that in NS, we happily talk abt girls cause it does make for good entertainment, but I never thought that it would create thoughts of desperation in us at all. WHY DOES EVERYBODY THINK THAT! I can tell he really likes this girl, but the thought of uncertainty for his near future stops him in his tracks. The question he has so long been waiting to ask is ringing in his head but he doesn't have the guts to tell it all. I don't have the answer to help him out.. Do you? DO YOU?

My life in the army..

Its been a while since i blogged anything. Haha.. Seems so fun to start blogging again. BMT has been taking up my time recently, I've been giving up so much time for it. Many would say this experience is a waste of time. I'd describe the experience so far to be an enriching one in terms of building up my own character and personality. Only 2 more weeks left of what they call the "chao recruit" phase and I can move on. Many fun and interesting things happened. Met many wonderful people and many unique individuals whom I respect dearly. Many more whom I met have their ways in life I do not understand. But that is life I guess. Singing in the Army seems so comfortable when you make a fool of yourself in school all the time. Think about it, I miss TP a lot. It seems like camps in TP can never compare to what I'm experiencing in BMTC. Sometimes though, you'd feel lonely when you see your buddies talking to their female companions at when they are free. I hope the time will come when I will have my own to love and care for. In the mean time.. Press on Saffy.. Press on..

Leadership - Vision

Leadership has a very wide spectrum of meanings. It differs from perspectives of different human beings who have been through different experiences in different vocations. For myself, I seem to have the privilege of developing this leadership character in me through unconcious effort. It was a time, about 5 years ago that I decided, my life was never to be the same again. It was a time I began to live conciously for the future. It was the actual time I had a vision of the future. I must say that this word, "vision" is indeed a very powerful word in leadership. I have begun to realise how important it is used in leading a set group of followers who may come from all walks of life. It is said that a vision, if allowed to flourish and imagined in the minds of the followers of an outstanding leader, he has the whole world in his hands. I have seen how an introduction of the vision if put across by the leader to his followers and seen through by the leader through thick and thin, can bring success in all forms possible. Imagine a leader envisioning a future where cars would be affordable to average American family when others condemn the possibility of it ever happening. Henry Ford brought on the challenge and today you see each American family owning the all American "Ford" car. A vision can do wonders not only for a leader's followers but also for yourself. Set a vision and dream for yourself and work through thick and thin following through with that promise you made for yourself. The vision you set for yourself will inspire others without you even knowing it. Your vision of the future holds a power that will move your world. I believe it did cause it did for me.

To make a new friend, regardless of race, language or religion

It has been an interesting day. I made a new friend on the way to meeting someone. He was African. Ghanaian in fact, but this man I met was a fantastic man. He seemed helpless at the MRT station, trying to buy a ticket to get to the airport. I somehow found the need to help this man, though many eyes would indefinitely stare in disbelief for even associating myself to this man. Dark and creepy on the outside, it seemed he was very soft yet religious in his being. Got to know that he was a tourist taking a break from work for a month, leaving his family behind to view what the world has to offer. The more questions I asked, the more he felt at ease with me. An extremely friendly personality in a well built body of strength and character. It was a real issue for me, when he mentioned of the criticism and discrimination he has faced from fellow Singaporeans. Why when he pointed out, with a slash of the wrist of any human being on Earth, all and everyone of us would bleed a blood that is crimson red. A true human being full of just and fun-loving nature, he re-created thoughts and beliefs people have seemed to form on me for the past 20 years. It has been an exciting journey. Getting to know this man was an unbelievable experience. I wish him all the best of luck. His name is James. He has changed my life..

Life

Life has just taken a 360 turn for me today when I realised so many others are less fortunate then me.. I realised the life I have been living was a selfish and thoughtless one. For 20 years, I thought I had been in an unfortunate state with my background, when I realised there were many more that had so little in life. I seemed to have redefined... my dreams.

Me and Grace helped a blind man to his way to the bus stop and waited till his bus came. I didn't know why but something came over me to just help him. He was struggling to make his way to the bus stop. That was the least I could do I guess. Many looked, but few expressed interest to even help. Sigh. I wonder what the world has become.

Must we be judged by how successful we are in academia? Must we be liked and welcomed only if we are of the same colour? Must we allow the people around us to depict what we should do? Questions just pop up in my head when I look at the people around me. It is scary the world I live in. When I see the strong bullying the weak, the heartless controlling the sincere. It is happening all around the world and most importantly it is happening all around me.

Reaching into my subconcious, I have let faith chart my course. My dreams will come true, for there will be a time when I am ready, success will come my way. I love the life I'm living, because if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room on this planet.

Love life, Live it!

EBAY Rocks!

I recently discovered the magic of online shopping yesterday.. and it was damn fun! Bidding and buying stuff had more of the excitement than getting stuff from the shopping centre. There was more to choose from that wasn't available from the shops as well. I recently got a T-shirt for only $4.97!! I also bought a book I've been looking for months for $35.00. Just missed out on a Levi's 501 jeans by a mere $0.50 cents. The winner wasn't about to get lose the bid I guess. I thk it will be a dream come true for women to shop from the internet for the rest of their lives. It makes all the work so much easier for the guys. ;) THANK YOU SO MUCH EBAY!

Did you know?
The first item ever sold on eBay was Omidyar's (the founder of EBay) broken laser pointer for $13.83. Astonished, he contacted the winning bidder and asked if he understood that the laser pointer was broken. In his responding email, the buyer explained: "I'm a collector of broken laser pointers."

Strange!! Till next time.. Peace out!

L.E.A.D

I had a great meeting with the committee for the class representative camp. The bunch of them were exceptional. I could see it in their eyes that they had the drive to create. The drive to lead. My last chance to lead a young bunch of students for an event. I had to make the best out of it, not for myself but for the future of engineering students and its student leaders. It was great to see that they were all very receptive to my beliefs and ideas. I really want them to understand how leading can be something much more rewarding when self is sacrificed for others. I really want them to succeed. I really want to them to fly.

Leading is an exceptional ability I believe everyone should learn in the course of their lifetime. It can be one of the most rewarding yet challenging skills anyone can learn. I honestly see myself as a leader and I am proud of it. To see followers truely understand the vision and goals that you set, you give them belief that they are in safe hands. To eventually have your followers emulate your thoughts and ideas; absolutely priceless.

I saw my life change in the past few months in thought, words and action. Mistakes have culminated in unfortunate incidents in the past and I vowed to not repeat the same mistakes. I truely understand how integrity is such an integral to a person's character and reputation.

Integrity can be defined easily: It is the act of what you think, becoming what you say, manifesting into what you do. Something I will practise till the day I die.

I am dedicated to helping team L.E.A.D to success. I know they will because I visualise with the end in mind. L.E.A.D camp will be success. With my thoughts, the universe will align itself to allow the manifestation of my desires. It will be a success. Nothing less. It will be a success..

Peace out people! Create the life you've always wanted! Believe..

Another episode of "Did you know?"

An exhilarating day with the highlight being the motivational talk that I was given a chance to give in the afternoon. I liked the session because it was with a smaller crowd and I could raise the intensity of my message across to these people who were interested in what I had to say to them. I raised it a bar higher. I enjoyed myself. They enjoyed themselves. The result was fantastic. The people went home inspired. I could throw it up a notch.. but not yet.. I'm not ready yet.. There is still so much more for me to learn..

Got 4 new business partners in the making. I have the faith that these people are confident of reaching success. I am ready to take on the challenge of leading them. It will be a matter of time I have to. They are ready to take on the route of success. Are you?

Many people in life are never fully satisfied with their lives simply because they do not push their limits beyond what they can imagine. Their comfort zone is completely limited to what they feel is logical. The human mind is much more capable than many think it can do; when harnessed, it can build great fortunes when used in the right manner.

Did you know?
1 percent of the population in the world own 99 percent of the world's wealth? Which percentage are you willing to be categorised under?

Think about it..
Till the next "Did you know?", Peace out!!

The "Extended" Family and the "Annoying" one!

Morning till 5.30pm
Sometimes I wish I did more for my $70. I'm still waiting for my committee to be confirmed before we all get started to get the Class rep camp happening for Engineering school. In the mean time, the occasional youtube.com will keep me awake for most of the day.

6.30pm
I've been longing to see the dragonboat guys, only to see that the family has grown by twofold over the past week. It seems like the dragonboat team has begun its inauguration of the newly chosen freshies to our dragonboat family. Met up with Joshua, Kang Wei, Yonggie and Baba to witness the inauguration ceremony with the dreaded "fitness" test. (I don't really understand why its called a fitness test when as dragonboaters, we're ald fitter than 2/3 the student population. Hak Loon knows that we're fit. The thing is whether we are fit enough! Damn Hak Loon.. OoopS!) Kang wei and yonggie started to go on depicting characters from Bleach. Baba had to spoil it all saying he prefers "Dettol". WTF! Baba just shut up will you! HAHA! i'll start calling him the "Annoying" one from now on. I'll bet he'll like the name :)

8.05pm
Time for the guys to run their 2.4km. Baba kept on making fun of the guys for having to run the 2.4k cause his time is ald over. 2.4k is ald over so he says. At least I beat his ass to 2.4k. Damn I'll reach 30 pull ups soon.. Just you wait Baba!

Some of them ran like they got chased down by a rhino I tell you. Some pretended to drop dead when they finished (standard operating procedure!), others panted as if they didn't breathe for a century. These bastards were fast I tell you! slowest was 11:20 minutes. I remember Baba got the slowest during our time. Oh the memories! Haha.. Kang wei ran a milestone, 9:10 minutes(Kowtow to the almighty one!).

10:30pm
Had a good talk to Sherman and Xianglin on the way to the bus stop and back home. Both have their dreams and passions to pursue in life though both may be going in different directions. Mentioned how tough it was going to be in the coming few years to them, for them to get ready for a traumatising experience to come up ahead. The world is going to turn on Singapore soon, but few realise the need for us to be prepared, emotionally, socially and psychologically.

Today, I felt alive again. I was grateful for the things and friends, though ridiculous and obnoxious like Dion aka Baba, I have making me human as can be. The law of nature reveals its sweetness and happiness towards you when you see life in a positive perspective. This is how I choose to live my life and how I would preach others to do.

Quote of the day
Appreciate the finer things in life. Never regret a single moment. Cherish it!

The Aftermath of "THE TALK"

Though it is Thursday today, I prefer to say that wednesday was a more interesting day. It was cool getting people to listen to what I had to say based on what I experienced. I must say I was very motivated myself, when I saw the amount of people willing to listen to me speak. I must have really got the Law of Attraction going for me. They were mostly a bunch of people who came in with the intention of getting tips of how to improve on exams. I'd rather give them tips on how they improve their lives. It was interesting how they responded to my questions in the talk as alot of the points that I mentioned in the talk was true. It reflected the ways many of them experienced life, from the day they were born to exact moment they were there in that LT. I knew if out of 100 of these people 20 learnt something from the talk, I think that is enough. For if 20 of these people would start to share what I mentioned in the talk, it will spread like wildfire. I gave a promise to myself that the next talk I will give, I will move them, I will make them laugh and I will make them cry. That is my goal and no one can stop me. I think a quote of the day should be sufficient enough for today. It was also something I shared with them.

Quote of the day:
Knowing is when you know that you know nothing. That is knowledge. - Confucius

Peace out guys and live your dreams! Because I know YOU CAN!

The Law of Attraction

I became obsessed with the idea of the Law of Attraction aka Karma, when I came across the DVD the Secret. Did up extensive research on the subject in the office. The applications seemed impossible but they happened to many other human beings nonetheless. The Universe is a strange but fair in its treatment to creatures and beings that exist in its system. The universe will return you in its material form any thought that you harbour. Everything that you can think of, you will receive. Energy attracts like energy. Simple as that. It's difficult to explain. You would not even believe it unless you let yourself believe in the universal law of attraction.

It goes around the belief that you can obtain whatever you desire just by asking what you want with a burning desire and delibrate intent, where the material form of your desire will be passed to you through opportunity, chance or luck for that matter.

Something I myself experienced a few days ago can relate to this law of attraction. Actually I knew I was running out of cash soon, so I decided to ask myself how I could top up my bank account in any way possible. I asked with all my might, thinking of the time I had $800.00 in my bank account. It seems by chance, that the night I reached home one night, I found a letter from Mendaki that I received an award for $800.00. I was shellshocked. I realised I used the Law of Attraction to bring me the desire in its material form. I have begun to use this knowledge ever since.

People may laugh at the idea, but try it at least once. Just ask for whatever you want, in whatever area of your life, be it in relationships, love, money or career. Ask and desire it enough and let the Universe return the desire to you in its material form. Your thoughts will lead you to inspiring actions that will lead you to anything you want! Believe it!

Hanging with the teachers.. SERIOUSLY!!

Woke up in the morning expecting the unexpected. Today was the day I was supposed to take out some teachers to some of my favourite hangouts and I was going to be paid for it! What a job! At least when I got there, it wasn't like what I expected..

You know when you were younger, you'd always have the perception that teachers were boring people. Well I was so wrong. I must say teachers may be the most interesting people I have ever met.

Got to hang out at some of the places I always go to, Tampines and Mind cafe. They were always ready to hear out what I had to say about my life, my goals and my dreams. Patient people I might add, but they are a passionate bunch nonetheless. People who are very passionate in their dreams to mould the generation of the future. One I met shared her difficulties getting students who come from difficult backgrounds to excel. Others shared their mishaps in school. Most loved their job.

Met Iffa, the MALAY TEACHER! Cool! She shared with me some stories about some of the primary school students whe teaches. Kids these days are really more than what you bargain for! She's a great talker! Leslie too! Never looked his age.. He says he's 37.. I thought he was 27.
Come on people stop making me guess your age's.

Having teacher friends are cool! But other than that, they give you the insight to the minds of the children and youth of Singapore. They are really our future of our nation. I just hope, they can bring so much more to contribute the world of tomorrow.. The tomorrow looks bleak.. But let's live today to the fullest possible.. Peace out!

Monkey See Monkey Do!

MAD PACKED SATURDAY..
Had a great Saturday yesterday, earned a bit of money and caught a movie that was truely awesome. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone.. hmm.. If you can grab the DVD! Its called the Secret. Catch it if you can! Had a great time with some of my ex-poly buddies to celebrate another poly buddy's birthday. Food was good. Company was.. so so I guess.. Read blogs before I went to sleep, had a great chat with Sandy. She's cool. But abit too emo for me.. hehe..Had to wake up really early the next day as Sunday awaits..
SUNDAY MORNING AFTERSHOCK..
Sunday morning.. Oh my gosh I was late for my meeting with the rest of the bunch from the YEC! Got up when Hock Chuan called me.. Grabbed my stuff after my shower and left. Thought I made it just in time to meet them. Oh no..
BAD START...
What a day! I got to the wrong place, wrong time, wrong cab driver.. But at least I still got to my intended destination after that. Heck lah! Things will get better soon! And I guess it did. Made a bunch of new friends with the YEC peeps and really enjoyed the time myself alot doing something I really love to do.. being a station master..
MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO..
I saw monkeys around the area and I must say they are realli cute. Took some pictures of them. Woah! I must say they have big "dongs dongs" for creatures like dat. Hairy animals...Funny animals... Reminds me of a monkey I know called Chan Chin Teck.. Almost similar traits.. Everything the same.. Only bigger in size, no tail and lesser hair. Anyway, I'm talking about my best friend.hehe.. I love monkeys. I really envy monkeys. They can climb trees, they can run, they can hang on trees with their tails and when they fight, their whole troop join in damn it! Look at our army, OMG! Some can't run, some can't even hang on the monkey bar for nuts, give them a bazooka and they can't shoot an elephant and for goodness sakes, when war breaks out, our men will suffer from this particular disease called Piss-in-my-pants syndrome! I love monkeys. Cos they look much handsomer than the people I love to hate! These people.. I doubt they're decendants of monkeys.. More decendants to cows. I call them bull-sh*t!
DREAMS..
Monkey see monkey do. A common cliche we can associate to most people around us. Why be everyone else when you can be a somebody?! I choose to be different.. I choose to dream..
Dreams so big that they will blow you away when you achieve them.. Dream and keep on dreaming, for what you want so badly will be what you get.

....Your wish is the Universe's command!

Tune in to a new "Did You Know?" segment coming soon to a blog near you!

Blogo-hunting and the meeting of silence

Today was the day when I would realise my blog is the smallest, most insignificant blog on the entire planet! Surprisingly while surfing the net, searching for what it seems was to be my "task" for the day, I came upon a blog which had an entry on Kuala Lumpur. It was just the site I was looking for I guess until I saw that it was written by none other than XIA XUE!!!

I was like OMG. Xia Xue?! But then, since the topic did relate to something I wanted to get info about, so wad the heck, just read it anyway. Guess what! Xiaxue was amusing through and through. I never realised she was such a fascinating read in her blog. From getting herself cheated by a taxi driver to getting molested in Petaling street, the truth was laid for all to see. Blogo-hunting is fun man! You never know what you're in for. Anyway Xiaxue is kind of cute. Haha.. but nah.. Already got targets in sight!! Haha.. Soon I had to rush off for prayers. Rushed back for what I thought would be an interesting meeting. Boy i was sooOOO WRONG!

Had a meeting with the "chosen ones"(lecturers) to decide the roles they were going to take for the upcoming orientation. What can I say. The "chosen ones" were "too wise" to raise their views. Sometimes, you could even hear a pin drop. Occasionally, you'd hear a cricket in the background. That was how quiet the meeting atmosphere was. I thought I was in a funeral procession rather than a meeting. OMG! Luckily, there were "earthlings" (students) my age at the meeting.. What a relieve! I 'd call the meeting, the "meeting where silence is golden"..

But wad the heck, I got to see someone and this time, I managed to notice her.. I really love her smile; always makes my day :) So that someone if you're reading this blog, I noticed you yah! :P Piwen was extremely KAYPO lah. Ask me how much my pay lah, why my desk so empty lah, this and that lah. I think she deserves nothing less than some chilli padi to shut her mouth. Haha!

Felt great today! 2 new acquantainces turned potential business partners. Truely brilliant! To live the live of my dreams tomorrow, I will help those who need the opportunity to shine today!
I will shine today and tomorrow and for the rest of my life!

Look out world! Sahfahri is coming!!

Singapore Idol? You sure or not?

OMG! Would you believe that people like that would actually let their faces be shown on National TV when half the the top 12 can't even differentiate between an A note and an F note or whatever it is they use in music lah! I did not have a choice but to hear these totally mindless young punks "sing" their way to "idolhood" in the bus on the way to Bugis. Please note, I DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE! THESE PEOPLE CAN'T SING FOR NUTS! It was a torturing for 20 minutes at least.. Trust me! Seems like only Nurul Maideen may top the voting charts. I doubt anyone else deserves it.

Did you Know?
Singapore Idol should be called Singapore Shameless from now on..

He's MY IDOL damn it! Please TV Mobile.. Spare my ears!!

A RIDDLE for you.. (highlight below the questions for the answer!)
What do you call young, good for nothing and shameless wannabes on stage?
The final 11 of the Singapore "idol" contestants

TAke care people and so long.. Good bye Singapore Idol.. hello Singapore Shameless!

Sick and hating it..

Been a long while since I was sick and the feeling really sucks big time! I never realised my health took a turn for the worse when I was feeling so good only a few days ago. Must be something I ate. Alrite, at least I feel better already. Thanks to a few people who always make my day. Just want to keep things short this time. Maybe next time!

Minds Cafe - Cafe for your mind!!

Had a great time today at Prinsep street for a nice chill out session with Elene, Ah Huay, Glenn and Teck. We were playing this game called "I'm the Boss" in the cafe till we went a bit overboard; people started to want us to lower our volume! I finally proved myself worthy winning $57 million, beating Glenn by a mere $3 million. Haha! YessSSSAAAAA!!
Mind cafe has always been a great haunt ever since I dropped by it only a mere 6 months ago. Been a regular customer since and been loving every opportunity I get to go there and play some of my favourite board games. Hey people, go to THE MIND CAFE to really have fun with friends. No where else comes close! Here anyway here's a quote of the day that would clearly relate to luck; something I had little of playing some of the games there.

National Service for?

Had a great chat with one of my poly buddies who is in the Army right now. Glad to hear that, though he may be having some trouble with his health, he's having fun all at the same time. To make the long story short, I doubt BMT will be any different for myself. But you wonder, why you even go to the length of serving for National Service. Sigh.. The next "Did you know?" got me to ask that question.

Did You Know?
Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has never fought in a war before! Not such a big surprise huh?

Well that's it for today's "Did you know?" Peace out!!

Teh tarik - The Singapore Sling!

9.00am
Work as usual... ZZZZZZ...(drools on table...)

4.00pm
I happened to help out for the Engineering Annual Awards ceremony today. Wow, the spread for the buffet was rather overwhelming. Chicken, fish, fried wanton and all you can eat fried noodles. Literally all you can eat.

6.30pm
On my way to Tampines. Damn, it was cool to talk to the cheerleading captain! She happened to be in the same bus and we chatted for a while. Realised she was having her attachment in the travel agency around Chinatown. What a surprise!

7.30pm
Was on my way home when Chin Teck called me up to go for some supper. Finally, something to look forward to. Had a good chat over some great teh tarik. Which just leads me to my next "Did you know?" that might surprise you!

Did you know?
Tea: a common commodity in the modern world we live in, exist in many different forms. Camomile tea, English Breakfast tea and Green tea being examples. But did you know that all teas are made of the exact same tea leaf? Processes to the tea leaves differentiate to bring you the uniqueness of the different teas available. Today, tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water. Bet you never knew..

That's it for today's "Did you know?". Tune in next time for a topic about SEX! ((yah right!))

The World's Funniest Joke - Singapore style!

The day was not as eventful as I would have hoped it to be. What the heck. Suddenly I remembered some kick ass jokes that I told some of the guys recently. Hmm... Wonder what the world's funniest joke may be? Yup.. That's what we're gonna find out: The world's funniest joke..
Did You Know?
I was going through the internet today and I found a very interesting research study. Guess what, it was a study to determine the WORLD'S FUNNIEST JOKE! The joke was as below.

A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: "OK, now what?"

Hilarious? It was more like.. WAD THE..

I happened to drop by another webby featuring local jokes.. Have a taste of Singaporean humour people. The next one will leave you rolling on the floor..
(Disclaimer: Any characters in the joke are not representative of any person living or dead. Except maybe some ppl I know lah..)

A Damn Cock Fairy Tale..
Once upon a time, there was a king who had a very beautiful daughter. As he was very fond of his daughter and he didn't want her to leave him, he made an impossible offer to his kingdom's men. He announced that whoever has two d**ks would be eligible to marry his daughter. The invitation spread far and wide. Unfortunately, none had his request and the king was secretly pleased.
In another part of the kingdom, there were 2 woodcutter brothers, Binbin & Baba. One day, they chanced upon a very big tree and decided to chop it down for money.
As they were about to chop it down with their sharp axes, a voice cried out, "STOP! Please don't hurt me ! " The brothers were scared shitless when suddenly an apparition appeared from out of the tree. He told them that he was the genie of the tree and if they would to spare him, he would grant them one wish each.
Remembering the king's offer of his daughter as bride, the brothers each wished for a second prick. The genie said "Your wish is granted. Now... what you have wished for will fall down from the sky. You must catch it promptly with your hands and attach it to where you want it to be !"
Binbin was the first one to receive his wish. As the d**k was falling down from the sky, he swiftly caught it with his hands and attached it right next to where his own d**k is.
Now, Baba was the clumsy one. As his second d**k was hurling down , he missed and it landed right on his forehead !!!
Binbin, being the cool one, told Baba that it was alright and they should proceed to the palace to seek the princess's hand in marriage. After all, the king did say 2 d**ks. Baba, not wanting to expose what he had on his forehead, took a long piece of cloth and wound it round his head like a turban to hide it.
They reached the palace 2 days later. The king was summoned and he asked Binbin to show him his 2 d**ks. Binbin took off his pants and proudly showed it off to him. The king sighed in dismay and resignation and also called on Baba to show him his 2 d**ks.
Embarrassed, Baba took off his pants and unwound his turban to reveal what's on his forehead. The king then yelled in disgust, "NI NA B EH ! YOU THIS TYPE OF LAN CHEOW BIN WANT TO MARRY MY DAUGHTER AH ???!!!???? "
And so the term "Lan Cheow Bin" was coined.

Things you do when you get bored!!

When I get bored at work, you won't believe how bored I get. I really get bloody bored. Bored till I have to go this webby to waste away the boredom. But oh my gosh, how they can turn boredom turn into a hilarious adventure. Things you can find in the site below!!

Things you can do with another person..
Have a "Who is less competitive" competitionwonder (Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)Trying to win at this will make you lose. Trying to lose makes you win which makes you lose. Not trying at all makes you lose which makes you win which makes you lose.
I'm like WAD THE...

Things you can do with absolutely nothing..
Use your secret mind power(Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)Pick a passing by and try to use your mind power to command them do something, like drop their bag or knock into someone. The law of averages dictates that sooner or later one of your mind commands will come true, so you can convince yourself that you really have super human powers and waste even more time trying them out.
Yah right, with the force of my willpower, chances i make a cute girl strip is like ZERO?!

Things you can do with very little..
Burn things with a magnifying glass(Amusement Potential: 5-30 minutes)Ants are always fun to use for this, but burning the face of someone you don't like, under some circumstances, can be just as entertaining.
Ok let us see if the person really burns to death...hmm

Did you know?
I think websites like this are websites a friend of mine would love. Don't you think DION aka BABA? He loves websites like this. He lives, breathes and "exudes" nonsense. I think that was where he found his Non-Sense of Humour! Oops.. So sorry.. So your 2.4k timing hit.. hmm wad.. 12 minutes.. ooOOHH!! LOL! And guys please don't be mistaken. The freak with the face is Dion. The person beside him is his girlfriend. Well I think she's the girlfriend. OoopS.

Would you work for US$1 a year?

Time travelled rather quickly today I guess. Was looking forward to learn more from my business partner than ever before. It was about time I started looking doing something to improve myself, listening to the audio CDs as well as reading "Sphere of Silence" today. What a way to empower yourself. Your mind just opens up to information when you seek for it. It all just made sense. Hmm.. but let's get on to today's "Did you know?". It features one of my role models I must say..

Hey! Ever asked yourself what you could do with US$1. Nothing much I guess? What about working for your company for US$1 a YEAR? Believe it but that was what this guy did for the company he founded. That guy is THE guy who brought you your beloved Ipod, Ipod nanos and Itunes. He is Steve Jobs.

Did you know?
Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computers, worked for US$1 a year when he came back to revive the then depreciating Apple computers. Though his current salary still stands at US$1, he remains a major shareholder of Apple Computers as well as a US$90 million jet plane from the board of Directors of the company. Amazing!!

That's it for today's "Did you know?". See you again next time..

The Azzuri's roll on in the World Cup!

Finally, the FIFA World Cup is over.. So let us get on with life people! Loss of sleep, loss of appetite and plenty of excuses to skip a day in the office finally over! It just shows how much of an impact it creates on the entire world. Ever thought if playing a football match can determine the fate of a nation? What if the world's leaders decided to use football to end wars? Then again, I guess the Azzuri's and Co. (Italians) will party all week long for a victory they so yearned for in 12 long years.

Did you know?
The Azzuri's (Italy football team) have entered a major final of the world cup every 12 years. This time they won it for the fourth time. How wonderful fate must have allowed them to continue their destiny.

Well done to the Azzuri's. Goodbye World Cup!

Tune in for the next "Did you know?". Brought to you by Saffy and Co.

This should be interesting!!

Welcome again to my "Did you know section?" column. Alrite let us look into the world's biggest..

Did you know?
The world biggest bookstore is actually called the WORLD'S BIGGEST BOOKSTORE, located in Chapters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 20 Edward St, just north of the Toronto Eaton Centre. Though the Guinness Book Of World Records claims that the Barnes and Noble outlet in New York is the biggest bookstore in the world, the WORLD'S BIGGEST BOOKSTORE still claims itself to be the biggest though based on a different criteria.

Take a look-World's Biggest Bookstore

That's the end of my column for today! Look out for the next episode of "Did you know?"

So... Did you know? Episode 2!

Welcome to Sahfahri's "Did you know?" column sponsored by Saffy and Co. For today's "Did you know?", we will touch on the topic of English.

Did you know?
The largest English speaking population in the world is actually in India. Being a colony of England, the English languange has spread throughout the region to be the most widely spoken foreign languange in the region. No guesses for which country has the second largest population in the world.. Think about it!

Proudly brought to you by Saffy and Co. :)

Blogging

I must be a craze or something, but i think blogging is not bad an activity to free the mind from all its stupidity. Saw teck blog like crazy today at his house. More importantly i realise this blogging thing got a more commercial application than i initially thought. Wonder what I can share next! Hmm.. Maybe I shud start a did you know section so people will wanna find out new stuff everyday.. Maybe i should do that! KK let's start now!

Did you know?
Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb, but he was the first to patent the design and commercialise its use throughout America and the world.

End of World Cup = End of betting drama??

What a surprise! France VS Italy for the FIFA World Cup 2006 trophy. Didn't think the copa de mundial made a real big impact on me casue I guess it flew by so fast. World cup fever is finally going to end soon and finally no one will talk about betting around me anymore. Seems so cliched that everyone would start to talk about betting once it started. Has it always been like this? DO many accept the reality that betting can get them any riches in life? What has happened to working hard to earn that money? Does luck always determine a person's fate in financial affairs? Would striking lottery make them any happier? Is it so exciting to win $10, just to lose $50 again? These friends of mine are only in their teens, not earning any real money yet. What would happen in the near future, when they do earn this money? I begin to wonder how much they will actually squander off in the pursuit of instant gratification. I wonder how their lives would look like. I just wonder..

Betting; The way of life of many a Singaporean, the way of life to many believe seem to be the path of the riches they had always WISH for. Betting is entirely against my values and I choose not to. Football is much better off without it.

The power of 5

At this moment, I realised something miraculous from where the team ended up today. It seemed like the day the 5 of us met together and enjoyed our first taste of Dragonboating was just yesterday. There were many what ifs going through my mind when the TPDB guys raced the race of their lives to win our first tertiary men's medal in 3 years. What if the 5 of us just decided to leave just like our seniors did.. What if we just decided to quit. I'm glad we did not. I'm glad we stayed. Time has showed how 5 can turn the odds. The 5 in that picture who turned TPDB into what it is today. Believe it. for these 5 men will be remembered for true courage, honour and persistence into the unknown. Hail the 1.0s. We rock on!

What a wonderful day!

What a wonderful day to beat the dogs at their own game. The rivalry has been too harsh. Too harsh that it has been brought forward to this day. Today we succeeded and surpassed in every way. Few could have realised and be in our position at all. Few could understand the feelings the alumni felt on that very shore today. If only we were a bit earlier, if only. The future is now. The future of TPDB.

Signing off,
A very happy man..
